Reflection
My project focuses on the relationship between people and nature in the city. The inspiration came from plants, couples in London, and people who work hard on the streets, like food delivery riders. I wanted each piece to express a different feeling, so I didn’t stick to one color scheme. Some of my works use strong red, black, and blue combinations; some are purely black and white; and others are more playful, like the silver background with colorful dots.
I experimented with many different materials — pencil, watercolor, gouache, and oil pastel. I also crumpled orange paper into small balls and glued them onto the surface to imitate the texture of an orange. This made the work more interesting and tactile. I really enjoy mixing different techniques and seeing how they react to each other.
I think my strength is being bold with color and expressing emotions directly. I’m not afraid to try different moods and atmospheres. But I also realized I could do more with materials — for example, using transparent plastic sheets or other surfaces to add layering and make the composition more dynamic and communicative.
Through this project, I’ve learned how much emotion can be expressed through color and texture. I hope to keep exploring more creative and unexpected ways of combining different materials and ideas in the future.
